The Differences Between Traditional and Modern Architecture

Architectural architecture is the product and the process of designing, planning, and building various buildings or residential houses. Architectural projects, at the common material form of houses, are generally perceived as artistic works and as visual symbols. But architecture is in fact the systematic arrangement and organization of elements into various configurations according to the necessities of the structures being built. Architectural discipline is a very broad one, dealing with the study of buildings and urban planning from all aspects such as aesthetic, functional, economic, social and technical aspects. The architectural and design fields are related closely with each other, with the architect taking care of all the technical aspects and the draftsman doing all the economical and social aspects.

ARCHITECTURE

Architecture is a branch of visual arts, with architects using different techniques and methods to create buildings and landscapes. There are numerous sub-disciplines within the field of architecture which include the use of space planning, building maintenance, environmental quality, hospitality, design and construction and lighting. These areas of architecture are widely used by architects to design and build new establishments, as well as developing old ones into beautiful homes. The development of new buildings usually involves more than just planning, as they also need to incorporate technical aspects, such as electrical systems, plumbing, heating and ventilation systems, security systems, etc.

Building materials are an important aspect of the construction of modern day buildings. Architectural designers have to be skilled in choosing the most suitable materials for the structure of the building, which should be highly resistant to nature and adverse conditions. Architectural designers spend time understanding the client’s needs, preferences and the limitations before designing the project. The designing process of an architectural project normally begins with the concept and layout of the proposed buildings and landscapes. This stage is known as the “cardio-ids” stage of the architectural process, where designers work on the physical layout and then plan out the space usage for the buildings and landscapes that will be used.

In order to design a building that will meet all the client’s needs and specifications, numerous factors are taken into consideration, such as functionality, the size of the property, location and accessibility. A good example of the many factors that are taken into account during this phase include the number of residents, the number of bathrooms and kitchens, the amount of space required for parking and much more. This list of concerns is actually endless, as each and every aspect of designing buildings has to be carefully planned and thought about. This process, which can take months to several years to complete, is also known as the “design and build” stage of architecture.

Modern architecture, on the other hand, utilizes many different building technologies. Some of these innovations include the use of cantilever racking, mechanical engineering innovations, environmental initiatives and sustainability initiatives. These elements form the basis for what modern architecture is known for. Modern architects also make use of such materials as steels, aluminum, stainless steel and many others. They also use cutting edge technology in everything from water conservation to energy consumption.

In terms of functionality, the use of lighting, windows and ventilation play a crucial role in making a building efficient. In many cases, modern architecture fulfills its purpose of providing sufficient space and functional amenities with minimal intrusion. This has made it very popular, particularly in metropolitan cities. But its main contribution to the aesthetic sense of a building is in imparting a feeling of space, openness and modernity to the area.
